Despite it being game night, we played a total of 3.5 games. One of them was one I came up with on the fly out of pure boredom. We mainly played Cards Against Humanity, which is always fun. Elliott was the judge when someone was stuck between a card combination to play (helping me win the game).
I don’t remember most of the combinations that were played, but I don’t think I’d want to repeat them. I just remember laughing. Real laughter, wheezing, and moving around while everyone else laughs just because of how stupid the others laugh.
I love the different sounds my friends make when they laugh and all of the different things we do when we’re happy. I love making my friends laugh.
The rest of the night, we just hung out. We looked at Laila’s little sister, Maggie’s writing she did for school. She’s in 2nd grade, so there were some truly profound ideas in there.
We ate pizza on paper towels and Julia tried communicating with Laila’s cat, Pheobe, and ultimately ended up seeming a little crazy. We listened to music and Julia and Laila danced around.
Theo and Julia messed around with instruments for a little bit (it sounds horrific on video), this became the band that lasted for about 10 minutes, Jack in the Bush. Before the band’s disbandment, Darwin was invited to sing with Jack in the Bush.
Jack in the Bush ultimately ended up turning into Travis Scott and Playboi Carti with a British accent. Maybe they’ll be back for the next game night?

Making friends was always tricky for me growing up, so I feel especially lucky to have the friends I have today.
Sometimes I feel like I just kind of live on automatic. I feel like I don’t fully process what’s happening, but sometimes I do. When I realize the life I get to live and the people I get to spend that time with, I’m overwhelmed. I’m so grateful for my friends and I couldn’t ask for better people to spend time with.
Thank you for letting me take silly pictures as a way to hold onto this little group.
