Superior Broadcast

Over the past seven months, I’ve had the honor of producing Midtown High School’s newscast, Knight View. As a producer, I’ve learned new things about myself and the world around me. I’ve further explored my love for broadcast journalism, particularly uncovering my passion for editing.

On Monday, I went to the Georgia Scholastic Press Association’s (GSPA) Spring Awards at UGA. There, Knight View was awarded Superior Broadcast.

This Superior title allowed me to realize the reason I first fell in love with broadcast journalism: my team. I’ve continued to work alongside the same amazing, hard-working, talented, generous, and funny team for the past three years. I could not have produced and edited a Superior Broadcast without them. I’m so very proud to call them my team.

We have one episode left of this season. The passion and love they have for the show is the reason it will be a special episode. Stay tuned to see it in the coming weeks.

I’ve learned a lot about myself as a producer. I’ve learned that I need to control my temper and that I can’t always be in full control of the final product. I don’t allow myself to stress out as much as I used to. I don’t know if that’s because of antidepressants, a result of overcoming burnout, or likely a combination of the two. Regardless, I’m still proud of the work I do.

Although I never let myself admit it, I’m proud of myself. With everything I’ve had to endure, I always come out on the other side a better person than I was before. I’m proud of myself and I’m proud of my team. Because at the end of the day, we are Superior

As this season of Knight View comes to a close, it feels incredibly bittersweet. This season means so much to me because I produced it, and because of everything that happened behind the scenes. The end of the school year doesn’t mean I’m done working on Knight View. I’ll share more information regarding my future later.

Thank you for your continued support.
